Bank Mandiri, 'Surrender' Choosing to Pay Greater GWM

Jakarta - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (Mandiri) 'surrender' to pay Statutory Reserves (GWM) is larger than the target must be pursued Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) at position 78%.
Because, if forced LDR 78% figure was in accordance with the policies of Bank Indonesia (BI), which became effective March 1, 2011 will be far more risky.
This was conveyed by the Managing Director of Risk Management, Sentot A Sentausa in office, Plaza Mandiri, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Tuesday (09/07/2010).
"We were chased by LDR-reserve rules on March 1, 2011, if Mandiri will not be until the number 78% sure we will be penalized, but what to make," said Sentot.
According Sentot, Bank Mandiri is better to maintain the credit quality of the expansion to pursue LDR.
"Because of how well Mandiri bank business there so it must keep the quality," explained Sentot.
Sentot example, if Bank Mandiri forced to pursue these targets will be too risky.
"Say we have an excess which can boost the liquidity of credit up to Rp 40 trillion in three months. It's too risky because demandnya not necessarily exist," he explained.
Because according Sentot, which is currently only a problem in banking is high undisbursed loan (credit is not liquid) due to low demand or request.
"Undisbursed so there's still a big problem there," he said.
As is known BI just released LDR rules associated with the GWM. LDR his tires are not in the range 78% -100%, it will be a penalty in the form of higher reserve requirements.
Bank Mandiri president director Zulkifli Zaini said earlier, the case of LDR for Bank Mandiri was different from other banks because it relates to recap the injected government bonds in 1999. Currently, the financial balance sheet of Bank Mandiri, the recap bonds amounted to Rp 83 trillion.
That number has decreased compared to recap the injected government bonds in 1999 amounted to Rp 173 trillion. According to Bank Indonesia, the recap bonds were not included in the loan factor causing LDR figures only 66% of Bank Mandiri.
